The following are explanations or definitions of terms related to vampires and used in the Hidden Realm of Tranquility:
STAGES TO BECOME A VAMPIRE:
Stage One: Infection. Within hours of being bitten, the victim develops a headache, fever, chills and other flu-like symptoms as the body tries to fight off the infection. This stage generally lasts between one and three hours.
Stage Two: Vampiric Coma. Within 24 hours of being bitten, the victim will slip into a vampiric coma. During this phase, the pulse slows, breathing is shallow and the pupils are dilated. Vampiric comas last about a day; the victim usually comes out of the coma the night after its onset.
Stage Three: Transformation. A bite victim who survives the coma will awaken fully transformed into a vampire. An acclimation period follows, characterized by confusion, despondency and paranoia. Most vampires begin to hunt within 24 hours of transformation.
Fledging: A human whom has been turned by a master vampire and whom has not been a vampire for at least one month. During this time they remain confused, aggressive and struggle with what has taken place. Fledgings depend on their Maker to survive the transformation.
Vampire: A changed human whom has expanded the one month duration as a Fledging. These vampires are now in complete control of whom and what they are. Their powers will grow with time spent in HRT. Vampires cannot rise from the day death until the sun is completely set. Vampires still have to obey their Maker.
Stalking Horse: A vampire who acts as a front for another more powerful vampire drawing challenges to that vampire's power base.
Sourdre de Sang: A Fountain of Blood, a vampire that has become strong enough that they no longer have to obey their maker and thus can found their own line of vampires.
Master Vampire: A vampire with enough inner or personal power to be able to rise from the day death by his/her own will/strength.
Temoin: The second in command of a Master of the City.
Master of the City: A Master vampire who is strong enough to control other vampires and Supernatural Beings in HRT. Lesser masters have to ask permission to stay in the city.
