The Hidden Realm of Tranquility has a maggic barrier bordering within the forest from all sides, before you reach the Village. Those individuals without magical abilities will pass through this invisible barrier without notice, however those beings that do have magical abilities, if taking the time to linger, will feel a tingling sensation much like the one your foot developes when you've sat on it all too long.
At first, you will not know what the sensation means, and infact many of you will brush it off or chalk it up to your imagination. Afterall, wandering in the Forgotten Forest is enough to make anyone begin to imagine strange things.
When it comes time to actually carry out magical acts, it is then that you will be made aware of exactly what happened the moment you set foot within sighting distance from the small hidden realm.
This magical barrier was laid forth by the most powerful mage within Tranquility, Raistlin Marjere, and it is only he whom is immune to it's effects. At the request of the Master of the City, Pandora LeAmour, and with a second motion from the Queen LeAmour herself, Raistlin agreed to cast forth the protective barrier (after bargining quite a deal himself in exchange for his services).
The results of this magic protective barrier is simple. It strips the majority of one's powerbase so that all beings that enter the Hidden Realm of Tranquility do so with a 'beginners' rank in magic. Powerful spells will cease to happen, or backfire considerably. Magical staffs will no longer work, enchanted items will glow, but their effects will be rendered useless.
Why, may you as? This magical barrier was set in place to prevent beings from entering Tranquility at a god-mod status level. With each month that your character remains within the Hidden Realm of Tranquility, their ability to withstand the protective barrier increases, and their magical abilities grow.
You can often find how 'quickly' a beings powers grow under the Character Creation Tips. If your character's abilities are not listed within the Creation Tips section, please contact the Master of the City (Pandora LeAmour aka Pandie) and she will gladly work with you to create a timeline that will allow your character to grow within the protective barrier.
