Magi
Melody
-he was actuly lieing idely agenst a tree his armour lieing near by leaveing his thin small frame in view covered only in a thin shirt and jerkins tht seemed to big on him, his skin was apasy pale white almost sickly looking realy, now the strangest thing thought was teh fact that withint he area of him the entire forest seemd int he grasp of deep winter with him at the center and the area within 20 yard radias, the grass and trees frozen as if in the grip of a flash freez, the area nearly twenty below and yet he slept comfertable-
Magi had ventered forth from the depths of the village in search of a few of the wild herbs that grow within the forest, thanks to the local healer's secret garden. She was clad, of course, in her usual black robes, and deep brown slippers, which tankfully couldn't be spotted beneath the lining of the robes. The weather was certainly cooling off, and two gloved hands had to hold fast the hood of her robes in place else it would fly off and send her hair whipping in every direction. Up ahead, she spotted the strangest sight. Compared the the deep green and setting brown of the trees, a bright contrast of glistering forzen ground attracted her attention. Both brows arched to express Magi's curiousity and she approached slowly, holding her hood in place to bite off some of the brisk breeze.
"Well, are you not a sight for sore eyes, child."
-hearing soemthign he slowly awoke sitting himself up witht hat long blond hair falling into his face witch he pushed back slowlyw iel his other hand rubbed thos icey blue eyes of him wile looking aorund- "hmm? oh it's you miss magi"- it seemed tot ake him a long moment to relized just how close she was as he would litterly make an eep of sound and scrambled backward toward his armour- " you should not be there, oh no, you will hurt yourself if you coemt o close"-he was trying in vain to put on his leather wrapping of armour just falling over int he prosess-
Magi gave a sneer, the closest thing she often came to a smile, and that haunting laugh escaped her slightly parted lips.
"How very kind of you to worry about my own health, child."
She continued advancing, however, ignoring his warning. It wasn't power that drove Magi onward, but cockiness. She just chose to believe that nothing could hurt her. Not true in the slightest, since Magi wasn't exactly powerful, but image counted for everything. People feared the black robed mages for a reason.
"May I inquire as to what in the goddess of darkness you are doing?"
-he would stop trying to put the amour back on and simply tryed to untangle himself from it looking up with a strange look a kind of mix of fear and astonishment as she moved intot he center of that cold, the closer she got to him the colder it became he would frown deeply toward her- "i was takeing a nap, i got to hot in my armour wile traveling so i had to take it off, i am sorry for the dammage to the plants but i can not help it"-he would slowly stand, his thin 5'2 fram seeming to shrink as he slide to lean back agenst one of the frozen trees there, hands held in frotn of him to well keep his pants up pereodicly- " why do you come closer, are you not cold?"
Magi gave an annoyed shurg of her shoulders. She cared little about the plants or the trees. Hell, Magi cared little about anything or anyone other then herself. That was as it was with most Black Robed Mages. Her voice was weighted with sarcasm and annoyance, awfully difficult to push through in the quiet whisper in which she spoke.
"Of course I am cold, you fool. I'm flesh and bones! But I shalln't catch my death so soon, the universe has different plans for me."
Magi continued walking until she came to stand directly infront of the strange man she had come into contact with a few evenings ago with the woman from the Tavern. Both had been wandering the forgotten forest as if it was the perfect vacationing home.
"I see you did not heed my warnings. The forest is not a place for children."
:- listening to her he would seem then to anger abit, he had been trying to keep her safe and that was how she spoke the fingers on one hand to tighten it's grip on the jerkins strap of a belt as a rush of chill flooded the area again makeing the already cold frozen area colder for a greef time before he relized it and swollowed calminghimself and moveing back to puttingont he armour, the more he put on strangely enough the wamer the area became as if back to it's normal tempreiture- "well the forest does not scare me as much as villages and cities, there is not much here that would try and harm me"
Magi couldn't help but faulter in her steps as the forzen area grew all that colder, her face twisting in pain. Magi just didn't do well with the cold. It bit at her skin, gnawing at her bones. Only when it seemed to lessen it's intensity did Magi's shoulders relax, though her left hand which gripped the Staff of Elements shook. She considered working the Staff to warm her, seeing as she could control the elements with it, but didn't wish to weaken herself whilst she was in the forest.
"This is no ordinary forest, child. The mage Raistlin controls the forest and all that is in it. It is under his control, his way of ensuring no one can make it to the Tower without his permission. You would do best to be weary when resting. The forest has been known to change before one's very eyes."
Magi had never seen it, but she was a Black Robed mage. She knew the powers of Raistlin, and didn't care to test those rumors. Instead, Magi glanced around, before her whispered voice came again.
"Here alone, child?"
:-he took note of the shivering and faulter in the women before hima nd his looked seemed to sadden as he slowly donned the chest wrappings clicking and strapping them in place as the cold grew less and less- " i am sorry. i did not mean to hurt you, i try tos taya way from others wile resting for that reason"-he would force a smile to her as he contonued his dressing once done the weather seemd backt o normal just the normal chillint he air- "oh.. i did not know all that about the forest"- whens he asked him if he was alone and he nods slowly- "always, ther are vary few i am be around, and fewer still that want to be around me"
Magi gave a brisk nod of her head, as if she understood exactly what the man had said about those they try to avoid and those whom care to be around him period.
"The Lieutenant."
She nodded her head again, and the gestured behind him with the Staff of Elements.
"I am just on my way to visit the Market place. Perhaps you would care for something warm to drink, to ease the seasons chill?"
Magi didn't choose to spend her time with anyone, but these days more and more people seemed to be popping up out of the woodwork that didn't hustle away in her presence. Besides, it would suit her cause to have a few people whom thought she a friend instead of foe.

Magi didn't touch people. She didn't shake peoples hands, she didn't embrace them in greeting or departure, and she certainly didn't allow them to walk with her as if they were something more then a stranger. Partly because Magi didn't care for people. She cared only for herself. And partly because she just didn't understand how to act friendly around people. She had been raised in the tower in Warts (or so she called it while growing up) and did not socialize with the best companions. She knew nothing of how to act, thus Magi pointedly strolled past him slowly, using the Staff of Elements as a leaning cane whilst she walked.
"You do not feel the cold? Tell me more of this ability, child."
That would be the first sentence Magi spoke to him that actually sounded genuine and curious. If there was one thing Magi loved, it was knowledge.
:-he woudl blink as she walked on and simply followed her shruggeing to herself- "oh umm well yes, i feel no cold no matter how cold it is, it comes form the fact my peoples ability to exstrude cold"-he would sigh soflty becosue that ability brought him nothing but pain at least to his mind- " umm miss magi, why is it you call me child? i mean by my own peoples standered i am an adult"
Magi instantly stopped walking, long enough to peer over at him. She stared at him in silence for a moment, before she would once again resume walking towards the beginning of the Forgotten Forest where the Market place was located.
"It is merely habit, lad. A child is someone whom does not yet see all sides of the world. Who believes that they can rest in the middle of a forest and not be in danger, for example. Age.."
She gestured as if dismissing it.
"Is just a number created by man."
"oh well i did not watn to rest, but if i get to hot i become sick and have no chouse but to do so, wile the armour you see protect others from me, it does nothing for myself, and well normaly on hot days or days like taht after a wile i must stop and rest, sleep just come becouse i was not paying atenchen"-he woudl rub the back of his neck sheepishly with that then fiddelw itht he leathers of the gloves- ' i am sorry if you where hurt, but i at least have enough controle to keep myself at the hotest i can be without couseing myself harm"
Magi gave a brisk nod of her head, for she didn't really know what to say. Smalltalk just didn't come very easily to her. He hadn't meant to cause her harm, and she knew it. It wasn't harm as in lasting pain. Her aches just couldn't stand the cold weather without some weariness.
"Think nothing of it, child."
They walked in silence for a few moments, ducking in and out of the treelimbs that constantly blocked their path. Though there was a manmade trail, it hadn't been cut for the trees within the Forgotten Forest were too feared for the villagers to take the risk of chopping away to make the path easy walking.
"So, what are you, exactly, that cold weather permits you comfort?"
:-he would walk along silent every so offtain looking over at her there and thinking on what she had asked- "i am well we don't realy have a name, it's hard to say what we are, some stores form my people say we come formt he elemental fromt he plain of ice, others say we are a tride of the ice elves, but no one relay known, i myself just think we are cursed"-he woudl shruge abit- " most of the time we work for the queen, going around with diplomates to places wehre it would normaly be to hot for them to be comfertable, or fighters, thought i am no cut to be one of them or well...... umm cortizons"- that tought actuly made his cheeks turn a dark blue in color as if blushing then he woudl shake it off- "but relay i dought you want to now all that"
Magi felt her lips twitch and she fought the urge to smile. She would most certainly have to do some research. One of these days, she'd capture and grill some of these people, whatever they were, and discover all about them. Their strenghts, their weaknesses. Anything that might prove worthy note.
Up ahead the forest trail became easier, less tree limbs threatened to snage them. The grounds of the forest held only a single shop among many treetrunks. IF anyone looked up into the treetops, they'd find dozens of wooden constructed buildings within them, linked together by roped bridges.
"Welcome to Tranquility Marketplace."
- he noticed the lip twich and would smile softly- " well all i know is i would rather not go back"- nodding firmly to himself he would blinka few times at the sight before him looking up at the building-
Magi paused next to Hammerfall Force, the smithary. It was the only shop on the ground floor of the Forest, since the elves and dwarfs that built the marketplace didn't think it safe to have the forge within the trees. She continued watching the man, not needing to glance around at the Marketplace since she had seen it since it was being built.
"Have your people any flying or levetating abilities?"
They weren't needed, of course, to reach the Marketplace since there were plenty of 'staircases' made of rope for gaining access to the higher landing where the shops and bridges were located, but Magi didn't climb. It was too difficult to do so with th Staff of Elements in her hands.
-he looked at the smithy and tilted his head as if confused- "hmm they use fire to forge here?"-he thought it was odd but would shurge then look to her and tilt his head in conution one more- "flying? umm no i guess you can say we are more into burrowing thought snow then anything else"
Magi nodded in response to his answer. So he didn't fly. She had no idea what he meant by burrowing through snow, but it wouldn't prove useful here. Instead, with her left hand still holding the Staff of Elements, Magi gestured beside the smithary where a single ladder hung.
"Then I suggest you start climbing lad, it's a long way up."
-he would follow to where the staff pointed then back to her then up the ladder then backa nd simply hung his head in defeat moveing tot he ladder then to start climbing- " what a time for woob to be off ands earchingon his own"
Magi's lips twitched and she sneered as she watched the man begin the long accend, mumbling about Woob again, someone she had not officially met and didn't know why he would have been able to help in this situation. She, however, didn't start for the ladder. oh no, she was magi. Magic. Opting not to use the Staff of Elements, as it tended to draw too much attention, Magi instead readied a spell on the tip of her tongue. Her right hand disappeared into the many folds of cloth that composed the Black robes she wore and pinched a bit of spell components already mixed together. Sprinking them on her feet, she quietly spoke the words of magic.
"Pveatherfall"
Slowly, Magi began to drift, or float rather, upward. Softly rocking, as if a feather caught in the wind.
- he woudl climb and grumble about hevy armour and hights jsut to look over and see her floating up and would keep climbing- "hmm ok so your realy realy light"-he woudl laugh soflty- "tell me why is it you only whisper, did you hurt your voice?"
Magi travelled along side him as he climbed, undoubltedly exausting himself moreso then she needed to.
"It was the price I paid for my magic. I was rendered mute after my test in the High Tower. My voice slowly comes back if I do not use it too much. Should I cast too many spells, it retreats until my vocal cords have had time to rest."
Damn. Did she actually just answer a direct question with a direct answer? Magi never did that! She disliked giving people ammo that could be used against her, and that one was a big one. Now he knew that if she cast too many spells, she would lose her voice and be unable to cast any mroe until she rested. Magi shook her head. She should have just kept her mouth shut and said that he was correct, she had hurt her voice.
"hmm? yes i herd magic has a price"-he woudlt urn hisehad adn smile at hers oftly- "for what it's werth i think you have a vary nice voice, even if it is a whisper"-he would think a moment and look to her- "umm isn't there a spell that would slow you to whisper and sound as if you where talking at a normal level?"
It was a reaonable question, for someone that didn't know the ways of the Black robes, thus Magi had to bite back a harsh reply. Besides, she could use this guy. Play off his weakness. Allow him to think he's charming her with his compliments. You never know when he would prove useful in obtaining her goals.
"If a result from the Tests occurs, there are no forms of magic to remedy it."
She thought of Raistlin, with his frail health. He had been one whom had suffered the most during his taking of the Tests. No, no form of magic could correct what the Tests resulted in.
"Besides. I have little need to speak loudly. People do not care to listen to what I have to say, and all I need is a whisper for my spells to take effect. Loud voices are for those whom think they can win with words."
is walk, nig through the forrest my right hand out in front of my my left holding my 6 foot whjite oak staf by the top end with the leathor thng atached t othe hamndle wrapped around my wrist in casde I loose my grip I will not loose the staff feelnig my way along useing my very keen sence of hereing touch and a limited empathic sence that alows me to feel lifearound me be it animal vegetable or sintieant life forms sencei ng that there is something up above me fillled with seintiant life forms I stop to think and listen and learn *
"hmm that does make things dificult"-he nods as he pulled himself up to sit at the ledge of the ladder breathing heavly but smileing- " i dont know i listen to people when they speak, besides if you didn't talk to people they why talk to me"-he woudl laugh softly and stand up streching slowly, he had no clue what the black rode was, he wasn'tf rom this place, he had no fear of her nor repultion to what she was- " no one should have to be unherd, but you are right loud voices are for those who simply wish to win without actions"- he didn't realy relize he was complimenting her it just how he was normaly around others-
Magi's form reached the many bridges up above, and she once again muttered the magical verse to cease the feathered spell. Her feet landed solidly upon the makeshaft bridge, and she had no need to reach out to secure her landing. The spell was an easy one, and didn't cause her to loose her balance.
"I speak when I wish to."
She didn't get into the fact that black robed mages didn't care for anything that wouldn't grant them more knowledge, more power. Nor did she get into the fact that she was playing him. Those thoughts she kept to herself. She wasn't the greatest mage, still she could survive, clearly. But Magi had no ability to sense other's. Since the white robed Healer Mage below hadn't spoken, Magi had no way to know someone was there. Besides, this was the marktplace. There were plenty of people around.
"The Tavern is just a little ways down the way there."
Magi pointed to the left, where plenty of shops built within the treetops were connected all to a straigth shot bridge all around the marketplace.
"Why don't you head there, and I shall be along in just a moment. I need to make a stop first."
-he watched her land in amazment and thent ilted his head as if soemthign donned on him there- "hmm if you cast spells by speaking and, the more you cast the less you talk, does that mean that if you cast to many you will not be abl to cast anymore untill you rest?"-he woudl look downt he waya nd smile nodding- "oh allright then, i will see you there"-and off he would start to walk-
*moves slowly carefully over t othe smithery to try t otal kt osomeone thre to get an idea of what I was senceing here the Blacksmith in charge willnig to take a breack to answer my questions stops what he is worknig on and me and him or her as the case maybe have a nice all be it short chat about the Market up above he/ she does need to get back t owrk after all I thank him/her for hhis / her time and make me way to the ladder *
*sproaching tne ladder I take the staff and carefully tuck it back behind my back through my belt so I may use both hands t oclimb the ladder this not being what I would normaly do with it but feeling my powers being heavily limited ever since comeing into this area I manage as best I can with the situation as I begin climbling the ladder slwoly makeing my way up *
Magi was glad to see him go, because there was absolutely no way she was going to answer his question. The less he knew about her own weaknesses, the better off she was. And he, for that matter. Magi waited until he was well on his way towards the Tavern before she turned in the opposite direction and began walking. Those she passed would flinch away, many adverting their eyes until she could no longer see them, though she could feel those same eyes burning into her back. People just didn't like the mages of the Black Robes. At the end of the bridge there was a single stretch from the circular pattern of the Market place. Here, the mortals didn't go. Here, no one went but the Black Robed Mages, the Vampires and the Lycans. Here, only those of Nightworld travelled for here were but three shops. The bloodbank, the Cages shop, and the little hut Magi was heading towards. The magic shop filled with those things only evil mages used.
