Background info-Claire Meadows was born into a semi well to do family, they weren't royalty but they were not paupers either. Her mother was a beautiful woman, who taught her to make dresses and to value life. Her Father was a successful Weaponsmith and would read a selection of poetry to her every night as a child. Both parents adored their daughter and thought her the most lovely of girls they had ever seen. As it goes, so did a local Lord who wished to have Claire for his bride. He threatened her parents, telling them that if they did not convince her to wed him, he would have them enslaved and take Claire himself. Frightened for their daughters saftey, they packed her a few things in a brown leather pack-a few dresses, her fathers poetry book, thread and needles,a small pouch of coins and bread. In the middle of the night they hoisted Claire upon her white horse Amelia and told her to ride as far and as fast as she could and to never return. Claire fought and pleaded with her parents, telling them she would wed the evil Lord and save them from their enslavement. She did not want to leave them, but her parents would not have it. They gave their daughter one last saddened look and slapped Amelia and told her to run. The horse took off as fast as it could carrying Claire and her squeals of sadness off into the night. Many days they rode, Claire rationing the bread. She had no idea where she would go. Finally, once her food was dangerously low, she happened upon a small land, just beyond a clearing in the woods. Unsure and scared she rode Amelia there and found an inn. She paid for a room and that left her very nearly broke, Amelia was taken to the stables for the night. Once in her room, she lay upon her bed and cried, lost-alone-scared. Where would she go from here? only time would tell, and she cried until her eyes closed and she drifted into an uneasy sleep.
