So you've decided to play a mortal. Good for you. Here are a few quick tips to get you started.
1. Your character's personality and mentality will generally be more important to the roleplay than the physical characteristics. Of course the physical aspect of creation is important but in a relatively peaceful land there will be far more conversations than altercations.
2. Humans are only human. As mortals there are limitations as to what the character is capable of doing. i.e. Humans cannot jump ten feet in the air without the use of some magical influence or a trampoline. Humans are also susceptible to mind control and other magics...keep this in mind and try to look at the potential for a storyline in the flaw rather than focusing on it as a weakness.
3. A good back story can always give you a fall back storyline idea. A person doesn't always have to have come from a troubled background to involve him/herself in interesting story lines. Sometimes a childhood interest can turn into something longer lasting and more substantial than a reoccurring villain...although there is NEVER anything wrong with a creepy villain chasing your character around.
4. Don't be afraid to ask for tips or advice if you get stuck. We've all been there when the wheels just won't turn and everyone needs a little help from time to time. That's what your friendly neighborhood room staff is around for...make 'em earn the paycheck they don't actually receive.
