Naylani Rei
Location: The Square
Time: Two and a half hours after sunset
She avoided her chambers. She avoided the library. She avoided everywhere that Tathar may find her alone. Thus, she was sitting in the Meeting Room, attempting to look busy. Pandora had an appointment with Portier, should the woman show, in roughly two hours, but until then there wasn't too much for her to do.
Tomorrow, she would have to travel to Sacred Stones and restock for the Moon Phase. Tonight, she figured if Tathar was avoiding her, she wouldn't sit around waiting for him to come to her. If and when he was ready, he could find her.
And thus, Pandora headed out of the Meeting Room and towards Williams Room where her cloaks were stored. She knew exactly where she was heading. The one thing that garanteed to take her mind off of the fact that Tathar had not come to see her since last eve's incident was to put herself in a more depressing situation. And what was more depressing then shopping?
Allowing Willaim to slip a dark blue cloak around her shoulders, Pandora simply informed him she was going into the Square, and waited idly by as the man opened the door for her. With the two escorted guards trailing a few steps behind her, Pandora set off.
Now that the upper floor of the Tower was stripped of that godawful paint, there was really only one more thing to do. In her childish moment of wanting to impress the Lycan, she had managed to ruin nearly all of her clothing, and her bedding was stained of paint beyond repair.
The Seamstress' small shop Pins and Needles wasn't quite open yet, but that would suit her just fine. If the shop wasn't open for business yet, there wouldnt' be too many orders standing in the way of Pandora getting exactly what she want, and when she wanted it by.
It was another long day at the shop. Naylani had taken a small nap the night before, and had risen with the sun. She had been here all day working on some of the smaller things that her shop would be selling. She had completed two smaller pouches today, and she was just about finished with a satchel. She had a nice woolen cloth for those items so she made use of them while she could. There was a small glow coming from the open door of her shop, and she was sitting by the lantern to make the last couple of stitches on the pouch. She hummed to herself as she worked, it was going to be time to head home soon. She mused as the needle went in and out of the fabric. Naylani was getting tired quickly. Here in town it was harder for her to sleep as she normally would, because she was afraid of creeping out the other villagers when she woke screaming, she didn't want to be labeled a freak here...that would not work well for her in the long run.
As she passed through the Square, Pandora couldn't help but glance in the direction that Tathar's shop was located. Had she really set him on edge that much? Had he had time to think about it and found himself regretting what took place? Had she simply been an itch he needed to scratch? The more he stayed away, the more it bothered her.
Without even realizing it, Pandora had passed the small Pins and Needles shop, and needed to turn around and retrace her steps.
The door stood open, and the glow of a lantern lit the walkway, not that she really needed it. With a gesture to her guards, Pandora issued them to position themselves outside, and her silent footfalls carried her into the doorway where she reached out and with gloved hands, knocked upon the open door. Her voice, soft and mimicing that of an innocent mortal woman, called inward.
Naylani had not expected anyone to come by this late so when the woman knocked on the door she jumped a little and the satchel in her lap fell to the ground. "Oh my, hello there," She smiled warmly. "Sorry if I appear a bit jumpy it's a little late," She stood up and moved to the counter. "Welcome to my shop. How can I help you?" Naylani smiled and she dropped the shields just get an idea of what the woman was feeling in case she was here for other reasons than...business. Naylani was paranoid as usual.
Pandora simply smiled, and stepped further into the room. Her voice, gentle. The woman wouldn't be able to sense much of anything from Pandora, as a Vampire became skilled at shielding both thoughts and emotions. For a moment, she considered glamoring the poor woman, but figured she could get on just fine without.
Her eye's drifted from the seamstress, and around the small shop. For a place that wasn't quite open officially yet, it seemed to be going quite well. The fabrics, of course, were none of Pandora's consern. Afterall, the only gowns she herself owned were either simple grey, or the deep blue one she had made for the ball in Enchantica on her travels.
The word slipped out before she even realized it. They all but appeared to be the same age, and thus Pandora would have to remember she must support that appearance.
She smiled and shook her head the dark locks falling around her shoulders. "No no, it is quite alright M'lady," She said right after gathering up the satchel she had been working on and she set it on the counter. "I just was not as of yet expecting customers. But if there is something that I can help you with, I am at your service." Naylani tried not to frown as she felt...all of nothing from the woman, it was a strange feeling to not sense anything. She mentally shrugged it off and slid the mental sheilds back in place.
Pandora turned her gaze back to the Seamstress and gave a gentle smile. Her hands rested at her sides, and her stance was difficult to mantain for she had to keep remembering to shift. To fidget. To breath, even.
Pandora chuckled quietly, certain to leave her voice with an enchantment that would make it seem to match the appearance of being but a 20-something year old woman.
She even through in an embarrassed shrug of her shoulders, as if to explain everything.
Naylani laughed lightly. "Yes paint can be quite a trial...and it does not come out in the wash," Naylani poised the quill over the parchment. "So is there a particular color, or a particular fabric you wish used for the bedding?" She asked. "There are the softer fabrics which tend to be a bit more expensive, or fabric just for the sake of bed covering which is much less expensive." There were tweeds, and cottons, and silks, which Naylani could ramble off but she was sure that the woman had some idea of what she wanted. And if not, Naylani could suggest some of the best material for bedding anyways. Each material took on it's own qualities when used for different projects. "If you have a particular idea in mind, I will do my best to oblige it M'lady."
She gestured absentmindedly with a single gloved hand, as the woman inquired for specifics.
She gave another childish giggle, and smiled a secretive smile as if two women sharing stories of a comfortable lifestyle.
Naylani nodded and made a few notes on her piece of parchment. "Hmmm perhaps since money is of no object..." She mused as she took note of the woman in front of her, her eyes were a very intense blue. Ahhh...yes. A smile came to Naylani's lips then. "I have a color in mind, and perhaps a fine silk...the walls are grey you say, so maybe a deep blue...the color of the ocean," She suggested. "And for the coverlet perhaps the ocean blue again, with some golden colored cording around the edges...I would need to place an order for some supplies...but I think when it was complete, it will look magnificent." She waited for the lady's reply. "Unless you needed something post haste, of which I have some plainer fabrics here that I could work with. The choice if of course yours M'lady." Naylani would wait for her reply then. She was going to have to figure out where on earth she could order some supplies from come to think of it.
A gentle expression came over Pandora's face, all for show of course, as the seamstress mentioned blue. Why, that was Pandora's second favorite color. Tapping a single gloved finger to her lower lip, as if in thought, Pandora spoke again.
Of course, if it would take way too long, Pandora could always glamor the woman. Or a slight drop in Royalty might get the job done quicker, but the bedding at least, wasn't a necessity. And she did have eternity to wait.
Shifting from one foot to the other, and faking a good realistic looking yawn, Pandora lowered her eyes as if in embarrassment.
She then awaited the seamstress estimate on a timeframe, a polite smile pasted on her lips.
She put a fingertip to her lips as she thought about it. "Well depending on how long it would take to get the material here, once I have it in hand, I would give it about a week M'lady," She said as she set the quill down on the counter in front of her. "As I am new to the area however, I may have difficulty finding a supplier nearby," She placed her hands down on the smooth countertop. "But I believe the blue would make your grey walls not seem as...drab..." She waved a hand lightly in the air. "This is one of those times I find myself wishing I had more supplies in the shop...but in my travels I was not able to carry much."
Pandora then gave a brisk nod of her head, considering this for a moment. With a gentle smile fixed on her face once more, she continued.
Two weeks was a long time to wait, but seeing as she didn't really NEED bedding, for as much as she actually used it, it would be worth the wait. Bedding for a Vampire was more for show rather then use, afterall.
Naylani nodded, "That should be plenty of time to have the bedding completed M'lady." She said. This meant that Naylani was going to be very busy for the next two weeks, but it would be well worth it. "I will have your items ready in two weeks time," Naylani picked up the quill and scribbled down some more notes in her chicken scratching. Her hand writing wasn't fancy but it served her purpose. "I will start looking around for suppliers tomorrow. And when I find one, and price out the material, is there somewhere that I can send the bill?" Naylani asked the quill pausing over the parchments again. "Or someone I can give it to for you M'lady?"
I shall have someone come by and pay the bill in two weeks when the items are complete. Is that satisfactory to thee?"
Actually, that was usually how it worked in Sacred Stones or any other realm Pandora had been to over the centuries. She had no idea if money was required up front or not until the items were completed here.
Her eyebrows arched as she watched the Seamstress for an answer, a crookedly shy posing smile on her face, as if to say 'I've never done this before, is that how it works'.
Naylani nodded, "That will be fine. Two weeks time as of tomorrow," Naylani scribbled that on the parchment as well. "I appreciate you coming down this evening M'lady," She said with a bright smile. "I hope you will be pleased with my work," She paused then. "But as you mentioned it is getting quite late, and I believe it is time I close my shop for the evening. If there is anything else that you need done in the meantime, I do hope that you will come to visit my shop."
Pandora got the feeling the woman was rushing her out of the shop, but she didn't budge. In truth, she wasn't quite finished.
Pandora did her best to impressionate a shy embarrassed smile, a challange since she couldn't remember the last time she actually was embarrassed. Vampires, especially her, didn't really have much to be embarrassed about these days.
She gave another attempt at the childishly embarrassed grin.
Pandora didn't say who's eye she wanted to catch. For all the Seamstress would guess, is that she was simply a young girl hoping to catch the eye of a potential husband. And seeing as Pandora was anything but girly, she certainly held no experience in what would do that trick.
"Oh my, I am sorry for cutting you off," Naylani stammered, she needed to get used to this whole running of a shop thing and soon. "Oh dear...the paint again? I do have a few lengths of fabric here that can be used for some simple gowns," She said as she ducked behind the counter and she found the soft fabrics that she had brought with her. She placed them onto the counter, there was a silver colored fabric that shimmered in the lantern light, and a deep ruby colored fabric that didn't seem to reflect any light, "I have these here for simpler styled gowns, and...if you were looking for that special something to impress that special gentleman..." She trailed off and she moved around the side of the counter towards one of her hooks that she had fashioned the other day. She went to the wall, and she took down a silk bolt of fabric, this material was a light shade of purple, it was such a light purple that it looked almost blue. "Perhaps this is the fabric that I could use to make that gown that catches his eye." She brought the material back to the counter. "It is a lovely color and I believe it will look wonderful on you M'lady..." She said as she slid the fabrics for you to look over.
Well, the woman certainly had a keen eye. To Pandora, the fabrics seemed bright and girly, but wasn't that exactly what she was aiming for. Her gloved hand ran over each of the fabric samples, her head nodding ever so slightly.
If Tathar could go an entire evening avoiding her, she'd simply make him realize that she could have anyone, with a little help from her charm. Let him see her in a different light. A desired, beautifully young woman light, instead of the old and pale woman in the Tower as she knew the servants called her.
Naylani nodded and smiled widely. "Oh of course...the dress would not be complete without those," She fished out her measuring tape from under the counter as well. "Do not worry M'lady, I have been designing my own gowns and dresses since I was 10 and 3 years old. The other two you would like to be more...what is the word...serviceable...but the light purple that one will be glorious." Naylani was already picturing it in her mind. "If you do not mind M'lady...I do need to take a few measurements so that way I can ensure a proper fit of the gowns." She said as she came around the side of the counter holding up the measurement tape.
Well, now that wouldn't do at all. If the woman wanted measurements, Pandora would have to take off her cloak, and seeing as she was pale and ice cold, the woman would most likely begin to wonder at that.
To prevent this from happening, Pandora did the only thing she could think of. Catching the woman's gaze, Pandora used Glamor, allowing the woman to think that she had actually taken down Pandora's measurements, while Pandora herself provided her with the accurate numbers.
Generally, she didn't like to use Glamor unless absolutely necessicary, but giving the situation, she figured it was warranted. Anything to protect mortals from growing suspicious.
When all measurement numbers were supplied via a glamour that gave the Seamstress the illusion she had measured the woman herself, Pandora broke her eye contact, and gave a polite smile.
As far as Naylani would know, she measured the woman's waist, height, bust and arm length. And the numbers she would've scratched down under the glamour would reflect that. "Well the gowns I will be able to work on whilst I hunt down the material needing for the cotting. So I should have the first by the middle of next week," She explained and she looked down at the material on the counter. "It's just a matter of which one you would like to see finished first. If you want the more elaborate one first, it may be closer towards the end of next week," She paused. "Just because for what I have in mind for that one will take a lot more careful stitching, and more elaborate workings. So if you would just let me know which you would like first, I can begin work on them." Naylani would start sketching on the gowns tomorrow morning and if possible she could even begin to cut the material. "But am I to assume that you do like the silver and the rouge colored fabrics?"
Pandora gave a nod of her head, her jaw starting to hurt from all the smiling.
She gave a wink, and even clapped her gloved hands as if she were a child excited about opening a gift.
Pandora gave another large smile, and glanced towards the door.
She smiled and nodded again. "Aye the finer gown it shall be," She stated and she wrote the final bit of her notes onto the parchment as well. "I will get started on it as soon as possible M'lady," Naylani nodded. "I will send word to the Tower as soon as the gown is completed. Aye, it is getting rather late and I should be heading home myself, as it is this young lady has to walk home by herself," Naylani said and she folded up the material and set it aside to get to work on the next morning. "I just hope that you are pleased with my work when it is completed...then we can let your father be pleased with my accomodating your needs," She smiled again. "When the job is completed as with the cotting I will send the bill. Thank you for choosing my shop for your needs."
Nodding her head once more, Pandora stepped out of Pins and Needles and with her two guards falling into step behind her, began walking back the way she had come.
All in all, she was quite pleased with the order, and only hoped the woman would live up to her reputation. It would be nice to own something that wasn't completely splattered.
As she, and thus her guards, came into line of the tower, Pandora shrunk deeper into her cloak. Time to face the music.
She rapped on the door and waited as William identified her and allowed her entry. The moment she was within the Tower, Pandora struggled off the cloak and handed it over to the Tower Guard.
Then, before she headed for her own quarters, Pandora stopped first into the NightWorld Library, collecting a new binded parchment to read over while she spent the evening waiting for her duty to resume.

"I can do just about anything that you would need, gowns, bags, curtains for a room perhaps?"
She asked as she picked up her quill and slid the piece of parchment across the counter so that it rested in front of her so she could take notes of what the woman required. Her first commission...this was very exciting for Naylani...it meant things were going to pick up for her and fast if people were already finding her shop in the square.Pandora turned her gaze back to the Seamstress and gave a gentle smile. Her hands rested at her sides, and her stance was difficult to mantain for she had to keep remembering to shift. To fidget. To breath, even.
"Can you do bedding? It seems in my feble attempt to redecorate myne home, thy paint somehow landed... everywhere."
Pandora chuckled quietly, certain to leave her voice with an enchantment that would make it seem to match the appearance of being but a 20-something year old woman.
She even through in an embarrassed shrug of her shoulders, as if to explain everything.
"It clearly is not my talent."
Naylani laughed lightly. "Yes paint can be quite a trial...and it does not come out in the wash," Naylani poised the quill over the parchment. "So is there a particular color, or a particular fabric you wish used for the bedding?" She asked. She gestured absentmindedly with a single gloved hand, as the woman inquired for specifics.
"I am afraid I do quite know of fabrics enough to choose. Perhaps I could leave it in your capable hands? Money, of course, is no object. My.. My father does so enjoy spoiling me."
She gave another childish giggle, and smiled a secretive smile as if two women sharing stories of a comfortable lifestyle.
"Perhaps something that can... Liven up the place a bit? The walls are so grey and... Simple."
Naylani nodded and made a few notes on her piece of parchment. "Hmmm perhaps since money is of no object..." "My bedding was not the only thing that blasted paint destroyed. I am afraid nearly all of my wardrobe too has been rendered useless. Is there, perhaps, a chance you could use some of the fabric here within your stock to make me a few decently appearing items? I nay need beauty, or enchanting clothing, simple works best. However, I would very much like one... striking gown, if you could? Something that will..."
She gave another attempt at the childishly embarrassed grin.
"Catch the eye of a certain lad... Perhaps?"
Pandora didn't say who's eye she wanted to catch. For all the Seamstress would guess, is that she was simply a young girl hoping to catch the eye of a potential husband. And seeing as Pandora was anything but girly, she certainly held no experience in what would do that trick.

"I thank you, m'lady . When shall I expect these gowns to be completed? The same as the cotting, or will they be ready before the two week date?"
"Aye, yes M'lady. The fabric is perfect. It shall be nice to own something that does not match the walls with its bland grey shades."
She gave a wink, and even clapped her gloved hands as if she were a child excited about opening a gift.
"It would be nice to have the finer gown first, for I am set to go to court soon. The other two can come when you have the time to work on them. I do not get out often, and thus the painted gowns I do own will sufface for now. If worse comes to worse, I shall at least have a beautiful gown to wear into town when father allows me to travel with him."
Pandora gave another large smile, and glanced towards the door.
"Speaking of father, I should be gathering my escort and heading back home before he gives me a sound scolding for being out so late. If the gown is completed before I return, could you send word to the Tower? My father will be delighted to hear you were able to accomodate me!"
"Thank you William. I shall be in my quarters if my appointment arrives."
Then, before she headed for her own quarters, Pandora stopped first into the NightWorld Library, collecting a new binded parchment to read over while she spent the evening waiting for her duty to resume.
